I was chatting a few days ago with Tariq, and we were talking about UI design. As I have a few friends involved in it and as I love it, this is a topic I really like to talk about, even if I don’t consider myself as a UI designer. We were discussing about which UI designers I like, and I thought it would be interesting to share.
So here is my top 5 UI designer list. The order is alphabetical, because it’s really hard to choose which one is better than another.
Daniel Burka (Digg, Silver Orange)
Dan Cederholm (Simplebits)
Wilson Miner (Everyblock)
Soxiam (Vimeo)
Andrew Wilkinson (Metalab Design)
So, this is the list of the guys I’d really love to work with. Oh, and yes, Most of them are American (I mean the continent, not only US based). But there are also great UI designers everywhere. By the way, my favorite French one is certainly Olivier from HelloCoton.
Maybe I’m missing some outstanding UI designers, and as we all like different things, don’t hesitate to let me know which designers you like the most.

They’re really rocking the webdesign field!
May be I would add some other names to those, such as Jon Hicks, the people from 38one (http://38one.com/) or the Virb crew (http://virb.com/about)

Good list! Although you didn’t mention any of my personal favourites
I always liked the work of Jesse Bennett-Chamberlain, from http://www.31three.com/
I also really admire the portfolios of Clearleft (http://clearleft.com/made/), nGenWorks (http://www.ngenworks.com/projects) and Mike Precious (http://www.mikeprecious.com/work/). For me, these are just perfect portfolios!

I would say for my favourites – though a top 10 would more appropriate : Dan Cederholm, Jason Santa Maria, Greg Storey, Jon Hicks, Garrett Dimon.
